intro and quick question
02 May 2006 20:30
Hello there members. I came across this site while trolling the net looking for info about a 79' KZ650 I am considering purchasing locally. I'm involved in other forums, mostly surrounding Ford SVT ownership, and can tell this site/forum is well administrated, and can be a huge asset to KZ owners. The one question I do have is this particular bike has 12,000 miles, but is in very nice condition. Is that a mileage figure that could indicate an overhaul could be due, or is that not even close? Thanks much for any experienced input. John

Welcome.
That is not too much milage on her. It all depends on the codition overall and how well she was stored/kept. Some here have gotten 100000 miles on their 650s.

Welcome to KZr SVTcobra.
I'll have to agree with Rob.
Low mileage isn't always a guaranteed indication of a good bike, as like Rob stated storage of the bike has a great impact on it.
How well it was cared for (oil/filter changes, proper tune ups/adjustments & PM's performed, etc) and how it was ridden (WOT all the time, "babied", etc.) will obviously also affect it's longevity.
Just about any vehicle that is being well cared for and not abused will last quite a while.

I think there is one member here with over 150k miles on his 650, and it still has the original motor.
12,000 is basically no miles
12,000 is basically no miles
