1980 KZ1000 LTD
got first kz1000 yesterday.. was created by lexor
got this yesterday in a rush as another buyer showed up after me offering more than $900 list price but owner gave me option to take it since i was there first. it runs great and i am amazed at the power difference between my '79 xs750. i am confused as to the difference between this and an ltd??? mine has ltd side covers but is not an ltd im pretty sure. any help would be apprecieated. also, after an oil change i guess a new exhaust comes next. i will be using it as a daily rider but would like to do a bit of restoration as well. it reads 18000 miles but may not be accurate. new carbs and tires were a plus too.

Welcome to KZR lexor.
I'm no expert on the 900's, but it sure looks like an LTD to me - side covers as mentioned, and chrome chain guard among other things appear LTD.

Yup...LTD. To double check, take a peek at the frame VIN on the neck of the triple tree. If the 7th(?) digit is a 'B', then it is an LTD...if an 'A', then it is a standard.

the ltd frames use the rear footpeg/exhuast brackets coming off frame made of tubing, the regular kz's use a stamped steel bracket on 77-78
