1975 KZ400 Panic Attack !!

Well, I had a 78 KZ400 years ago, was one of my favorite bikes. I've been whining about getting another one recently and picked up a decent (so I thought) looking '75 Kz400 yesterday. Problem is, I should have done some research on '75's first. Looks like parts aren't as available for the older bikes than they are for 78's and newer. Needs come carb work and so far carb kits are hard to find. Beginning to think I bought a lemon and starting to freak out a little.

Dont freak out man, its an old bike, and they're really easy to fix with the OEM service manual! HINT HINT!

Normal for it to take a season or two to work out the kinks, and then theres always small things that crop up... all motorcycles are fairly expensive to maintain properly (at least twice as much as a car) per year.

Here's the deal with it so far. Seller said it was smoking, put new valve seals in it, there's blue RTV all over the heads and the tach doesn't work anymore.
Speedo is inop, has new cable but is wrong cable and drive is on right side of wheel, not sure driver is on correct side.
Seller decided to clean the carbs night before delivery, sealed the bowls to the bodies with blue RTV and now it runs like crap. Looking for a complete carb rebuid kit(s).
Both front fork seals are blown out.
Rear swingarm has alot of play, can move it side to side.
And by the time we trucked it home, rear tire was flat.
Also, front brakes barely work.

Has factory paint/stripes on tank and side covers, no dents, otherwise intact, all there. Really wanted a KZ400 and they're hard to find down here in southwest Florida, rarely show up. I paid too much for a bike that needs too much. Buyers remorse. Wanted to gently cafe it out a little, no permenant changes, save all the stock hardware but...don't know what to do now. Where do I start? Read on Kz400.com that these motors weren't the most reliable, that the 78 and newer bikes were better.
And yes, looks like the stock airbox is still there..for those who asked.

where id start at one end and scrub every inch of it to the other end so you can get a good look at what needs to be done. B)
