Hey everyone! Just picked up my first bike this week, a 79 KZ1000ST with 944 original miles on it. Beautiful paint, and the chrome is coming up ok. I'm rebuilding the carbs, rebuilding or replacing what needs to be, and plan on riding it this summer.

Found this forum through multiple searches for the bike and I'm pleased to be a member of it! :cheer:

Well i have some pictures now, figured I'd post them...

Also i got it running, i was surprised at how smooth it runs actually.

So far this sites been awesome, very knowledgeable, friendly people on here!

Wow, what a time machine you have there. The paint looks like it's still in very good shape. Welcome to KZR! Looks like time for new tires. Those look like they could be original. Don't ride on 30 year old tires no matter how much tread they have.

yeah the paint looks like it's brand new. The tires are original, and cracked and hard. I have some bridgestone battlax tires on the way i plan on installing

Anyone know where to get an original seat from? The original owner couldn't find the one that came with the bike unfortunately.

If the original seat unlocks by reaching up under the rear of the seat and pulling up on a small handle--I have one.bj

What a beuty!!! Where did you find this bike? All I can find is old beat up ones.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.
