I can finally post pics
28 Apr 2006 09:59
Been on the site now for a couple months, mostly devouring all the tech info in the forum. You have all been an incredibly valuable resource while I've been bringing this old girl to life.
Back in November when I picked her up (for $500) two of the carb slides were seized because there was so much varnish from craptacular gas and the paint had about as much texture as 80 grit sandpaper. Thanks to the help of my good buddy Max and all the great info we found on this site, over the winter we worked her over to the point where now she starts cold on one kick, gave her a new krylon paintjob (gotta love the poof can for low dollar dress up!) and once we get the charging system figured out she'll be a daily rider and hopefully basically replace my car.
Here's the before shot.....

Good job anarki! You saved another great bike! Now you get the rewards. You get to ride it! You are rich! Ride safe! Like the rattlecan orange! May I suggest a name? Tropicanarki! It's the medications! I would never issue a pun like that otherwise! Ride safe!

Tropicanarki! Hey Mooon, got any extra of those meds? Must be good stuff.
You're right. the bike looks good in orange.

Whoa! Nice job. That turned out great. I'm working over a '79 650B as a long-term project. There's a thread back several pages in Chit-chat with before pics of it.

Hey rstnick, nice job!
I too did a spray can job, that came out excellent(I used PlastiKote lacquer).
Just yesterday, I found a site that looks like it has high quality...uh, I'll call them decals, but you gotta read about them for yourself; cyclegraphics.com.
My (KZ650) is metallic green, gonna add blue metallic flames(#107401) to the gas tank.
Thought you might be interested. Safe riding!

Good one Mooon!!!!! I nearly spit coffee through my nose!! But I think I like it!!!!!
Thanks for all the feedback guys! I'm just getting into the vintage bikes, was a sportbiker but gave them up before they killed me, and found through a buddy that I love the old stuff!!!! It's so nice to actually be able to work on your own bike (without taking an hour to strip it naked first)!
