Hello All,
I"ve had a number of bikes, currently have an '82 GL110 in the garage.
Saw a 1980 KZ1000 police bike on craigs list on Sunday, rode it home Sunday evening (in time for the Superbowl of course)
Anyway, I bought it rather blind, did not do much research on what was available for it these days.
I did remember when these bikes were the king of the road/dragstrip, so I knew of the history.
Anyway, the details of the deal. It runs, drives, 22k miles on the speedo, not sure if that is accurate though. The carbs have been gone through, but there is a c-clip missing on the accelerator rod that I need to sort out. All in all a nice bike for the age, and price.
It is going to be a summer project which will lean towards a cafe' style. I almost hate to do that to this origional example of a police bike, but there seems to be a bunch of them around.
So, Thanks in advance for all the info here. If any one can head me in the right direction on the specifics of this model it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Keith

Welcome Keith...if you are going to wrench on the bike, pick up two manuals...the base manual, and the supplement manual for your specific year P model. Both are easily located on eBay...buy the genuine Kawasaki manuals, not the Clymers, etc. You won't be disappointed.

EDIT: Just saw that you have a C model rather than a P model Police bike. The C models (1978-1981) are a completely different breed from the later P models (1982-2005) and are based on the 1015cc motor, rather than the later 998cc P motor. They are also not as common as the P bikes...this changes which base manual you buy...and might impact your decision to alter the bike. :)

Thanks for the welcome and the info on the manuals. I got the clymer manual with the bike, and I have downloaded a general manaual, but will purchase a paper copy along with a model specific model if I can find one.

Big thanks on the information on the model I have. The seller told me it was a "C" model. I've done some searching on line but have not had much luck finding any specs on this model. Easy to find info on the "P" model.

My plan for now is to get it 100% mechanically and clean it up. From there I will decide on cutting it up or keeping it stock.

Here's another shot of the bike.

Thanks again.
