95 kz 1000 carbs stuck
21 Jan 2011 00:09
howdy, jusrt picked up a 95 kz1000 for about 450. Its been sitting for about three years. isn't runnig yet. did a few of the matinence like plugs oil and brakes. ran into what i thought was a stuck throttle cable. got it loose from the grip and its fine, just a little rusted. it seems that the carbs are stuck, should i plan to pull them? The gas tank was filled with rust, so i think it was run dry before it sat. so, i would imagine that there wouldn't be too much varnishing.

if theyre rusted shut it might be cheaper/easier to find another set of carbs to rebuild

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

thanks,
i take it prying the center where the cable is a bad idea, the choke seems to work and i took off the top cover of the outside two. they look clean and smell like fuel. Is there a way to see if they are rusted without removing all four?
