newbie from DC
17 Jan 2011 10:45
Hi guys and gals,
Been watching the site for a bit and decided it was time to join and introduce myself. I am in the Washington DC metro area, and new to Kawi's (don't even own one yet, but looking) So I have taken a hiatus from motorcycling for the better part of a decade but the itch finally caught up with me. Not good enough to start riding again, I MUST build my own bike, one unlike anyone elses...(any of this seem familiar..lol...) My father used to say I have "autopsychosis" according to him I couldn't leave my bigwheel alone. So I want to build something that looks like this picture, but has modern tires(with wire wheels), brakes, suspension, a single sided swingarm, can seat two and carry luggage lol. I think it is possible. Anyway I plan on starting a build thread so enough about the bike. I have never built a custom bike but the information I have found here leads me to believe I can. I have lot of mechanical experience (my dad was a mechanic, I worked as a bmw tech for a few years) and have done some welding (learning TIG now) Any members in DC metro area? drop me line Fkollar@hotmail.com

Well, you are going to have to take some liberties with the form of that bike pictured if you plan on seating two. Sounds like an interesting project. I'll be watching. BTW I have done some work on a detachable luggage rack that has concealed mount points. I'll be happy to help you out when you get there.
