Hi guys I purchaased a 1978 KZ 1000 Ltd. It is in rough shape, but with a bit of TLC she is going to look like she did in 1978. Does anyone know what the original colors for the bike were that year? Thanks,Tony (mopguy) Sanginesi.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

She was running last year, apparently she doesnt want to start now.It need carburetor rebiuld, and a lot of other minor things.Engine turns over, been in storage for 20 years and has only 18,000 Kilometres.

I live in Toronto,Canada, but pictures were taken in spring.Thank-you for the color information david, I am going to order the decals from the internet and have the body shop do the paint work. However they were asking me if I could get a paint number for the black so they can match it to look like original factory colors.Any idea were to find the paint numbers?

There was actually 2 different color choices in 78 black as was already mentioned and what they called cardinal red. The black was the more popular of the 2 the red bikes were pretty rare.
