Hello, Manuel, and WELCOME to KZR! :cheer:

The 87 should do just fine, unless engine pings under load due to engine mods.

Good Fortune! :)

Welcome Mcadena! I have several of those '77 Kawasakis. As has already been mentioned, we like photos, particularly of projects underway.

87 pump gas and 1 ounce of Lucas Oil fuel treatment at every fill up. Any octane booster or high octane gas is just money thrown away. The Lucas Oil is a better alternative if you insist 87 octane isn't good enough. One ounce costs about 35 cents (32 oz. bottle @ $10.99) and, IMO, gives a better peace of mind.

100% agree if the engine is stock. I however would pull a spark plug and check that you have stock pistons and not a big bore kit in the bike. It looks like it may have has some work done to the engine. If it has a big bore kit, you will have to run premium fuel. If the pistons are stock than what "sparkn" said.

Welcome!

I never understand why guys put sidewinder pipes on street bikes. The pipe sticks way out, plus the bike is raked and lowered so right side ground clearance is very limited. I would look for a replacement before you drag that pipe too hard in a corner and crash.

This is very true!!!! That bike is intended for straight line riding. It is a highway bike. This bike will not be the best for inner-city riding or will not be much fun on back windy roads.
