NEWBIE!!! My First KZ1000
22 Sep 2010 12:49 - 23 Sep 2010 13:23
Whats Up Guys,
I Just Bought My 1st KZ1000!!
It was A drag bike project left at a local shop, completly rebuilt, ugraded cams (No Idea What Lift Or Duration) Sounds AWESOME. BIG CARBS ( Maybe like 54mm?? They Have 145 jets in them,)
Bikes In Great Shape For Only $400!!!
Ill try to include a pic.
BUT>>>
NO WIRING, except ignition, it was being built for the strip, so the gutted the harness and its basically unusable,
Im trying to create my own "simple system", basically an ignition switch, starter button, Headlight switch, and a highbeam switch.
Heres my question,, Has Anyone Else Ever Done It This Way?? Any Tips?
And How Do I Wire The Regulator Up? Its Still On The Bike,
Im going to be working on it all week trying to get it rolling by Saturday.
Thanks Guys
Update!! 9/23
So I have, my headlight/tailight wired up to a switch and fuse.
Highbeam on a seperate switch.
Ignition wired to a 3rd switch, with fuse and a starter button.
Everthing Works!! But,
I Still need answers on this regulator issue.... Ive got a regulator on it marked kokusan RS2127.
Does anyone know if this is a combo Regulator/ Rectifier?
My stator has male harness plugset on it, so does the regulator.... so it would seem that something is missing right???
HELP!!
Thanks Guys

Loudhvx - do a search for loudhvx and barebones electrical or something similar - he had a nice wiring diagram.

I grafted a KZ 400 harness on my 900 a few years ago. Paid 10 bucks for it on ebay. I used it as a starting point and modified what I needed. The nice thing is all the colors were the same so it was easy. Of course this was before loudhvx published the diagram for a bare bones system.
