Hey fellas. New here. And new to motorcycles. Looking to buy my first bike. Got a line on a 1981 KZ1000 CSR. I drove it and it rides great. Fits me really well too. (I'm 6'4", ~240 lbs.) Figure I'll use it as my starter bike. But being a 1000, I can make it last a while and take my girlie with me. B)

Live in Denver. Can't wait to ride up to the mountains. Anyone else in this area?

Look forward to chatting with everyone!

Alex

Welcome to KZR. I'm down the road a piece in the Springs. But there are members up there as well, 1 in Firestone, and 1 up in Thorton that I know of.
So good to see that you like old Kawasaki's, the guys on here are real helpful when you need some info.

Hi Alex, welcome to the Mile Hi Chapter of KZR. I'm up in Fort Collins, but like Motor Head indicated, there are several members in Denver.

Normally I'd suggest starting on a smaller, but given your size, you're probably right on the money with a 1000. Good time of year to get a bike and clean it up over the winter. If you do purchase it, your next purchase should be a Factory Service Manual....right after you post pics of the new bike! :)

Thanks guys! Looking forward to becoming part of the community and hope I can contribute in some way.

@Link14: Picked up the KZ1000 and it turned out to be a great fit. It doesn't need any cleaning, so I'm going to try to ride it somewhat during the winter. And trust me, a manual is definitely on my list. Will post pics soon.
