Hey every one! New guy here from Hawaii. I just picked up a 77 KZ1000 and am looking forward to cleaning it up and working the bugs out. This looks like a great site with a lot of info and a lot of great people. Im looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Im not sure what I have here really. What do you guys think this bike would be worth? 16000 miles. Im not looking to sell but Im just curious. I think i got a good deal. The owner before me bought it from a shop in Chicago 10years ago and said that they had completely rebuilt the motor and trans, took it down to the frame and repainted every thing and did some mods to it. Im not sure what all has been done to it. Ive noticed the forks are lowered threw the tripple trees. Is there a reason for this?

Hi there.
I bought my KZ1000 for 1600, so I think it just depends on the condition and knowledge of the buyer/seller. Mine was in fair condition.
The lowered forks are to improve handing/cornering, which it does considerably.
Make sure to get a good service manual, as these bikes have a plethora of maintenance required after sitting long, before they should be put back on the road.
Good Luck.
