Old guy with a new 'hobby'...

I just bought my first Kawasaki -- a 1975 KZ400D(3) model -- after returning to motorcycling some months ago, 35-40 years beyond my farm-and-field introduction to 2-wheelers.
Anyway, my bike is a sub-$500 eBay 'find', reputedly rideable, but over-advertised by a seller who simply knew nothing about motorcycles. All that considered, it's not that bad, however, and I've had it running since an hour off the trailer. But, it will be a work in progress for a little while.
It's actually a retrogression for me, since I bought and sold (or, in the latter case, bought and wrecked) very serviceable Hondas -- an '82 Custom 900C, and an '83 Goldwing Interstate -- since taking up "re-cycling":P.
Am looking forward to my first foray beyond the neighborhood on this parallel twin, and expect to find valuable resources here for refurbishment and repair.

A front fork brace will greatly improve the front end stability for your "New" bike. I recommend going to www.fastfromthepast.com
1982 GPZ1100 B2
General Dynamics/Convair 1983-1993
GLCM BGM-109 Tomahawk, AGM-129A Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM)

Welcome oldhack62, that will be a fun project, Lot's of re-cyclers here, you will fit right in.

Factory service manuals are prefered over aftermarket and are available regularly on E-bay in the 20-30 dollar range +shipping. Some sellars think they are gold.

Good luck,

In fact, I was fortunate to discover free downloads -- I thought THAT price was gold!;) -- for the entire appropriate Honda service manual, and a Chilton service manual (both in PDF/page photo form). Have already printed both, and have referenced them while beginning a tune-up.
