Welcome Muzz87...your frame VIN says "I'm a 1978 Z1R" but you might also check the motor VIN to see if the engine falls into the same range...see www.zedder.com

...and what is the deal with your throttle cables?

hey thanks for the replies.

i checked the engine vin this morning and its not the same as the frame sadly. engine reads KZT00AE-0415XX. the bike was bought by my dad in the mid 80's. it was used as a drag bike by the P.O. It came with wheelie bar, gutted exhaust, K&N bars, air shifter and as you can see from the pick no rear suspension. he rode it once up and down the street and then stored it. it hasnt run since then, but he insists it was stored right and should just need some fuel. we will find out in the next couple days.

its got museum quality dust on it!

plastics are just hanging on it for the pic.

Yep, looks like you have a 1977 vintage KZ1000A or KZ1000B motor in the bike...a common swap...there were plenty of those motors bumping around in the day. Still, I'd be happy with the bike. Good luck with getting her fired.

the only obvious things i see missing are the front fender, emblems and the seat rails,as far as actual z1r stuff goes.what are your plans with the lil cutie?
the green might not be the "right" color but i sure like it.

well my plan's for now are just to get her up and running, take the air shifter crap off and put the Vance&Hines pipe on it(stock one has no baffle). im not sure on the electrical situation because it was stripped down for drag, but ive got another harness and the brake light setup.

ill keep you guys updated on the progress.

be very careful with that dash.i see there is the one crack on the bottom by the tach (which is common)that is one piece that i haven't seen reproduced yet.we can get seat rails and sidecovers and tailpieces(for a price)but the plastic dash cover dealio is hard to find.
