new to it all

i never realy ha an interest in riding, bike were cool but i had other things to do, then i became friends with a rider, of of the best guys youll ever meet. hell, he even let me tool around on his newest, a yamaha 1100...
so now im hooked, i HAD to get a bike.. in this economy and with my wife being disabled for the present, money for a "good" bike wasnt there.
what i ended up deciding is to get something i could fix up, that way the initial cost would be down and i would learn the mechanicing side from the begining. anyway, thanks to craigs list, i have aquired most of a 82 kz1000 k2 ltd for next to nothing, and so here i am, hoping to pick a few brains, and learn something

A-man....I too am new to the Kawasaki world of mighty KZ! Have you ridden it yet? I just picked up a 77 KZ1000 A1 and I just rode it a few days ago. It's Faaaassst. Like 10mph roll to 60 in about....ooohhhh......3 seconds....Good stuff. hang on and don't go vert! Have fun.
