New guy with a 1979 KZ13

Very cool! The stealthy black paint looks great. If you have any way to post a sound clip of that bad boy I'd love to hear it! That inline 6 has to roar with that 6-into-1 header and a six pack of carbs. There are basically three 2-barrel carbs on those, right? Really cool and very unique. You don't see many of these around and especially not stripped down and customized. Oh, and welcome to KZR!

Thanks a lot guys, I will do my best to get a sound clip. I owe my other forum one as well. I just got it up and running again. Need to register and insure. The only issue is it only runs proper when the choke is on, it is probably due to the after market air pods, and I need to put some new Super in it maybe with some additive.

I do love this bike though and look forward to getting it out and about again, these bikes are always a conversation starter at bike nights.

May want to install a Dynojet stage 3 jet kit in it, they can be found on Ebay.Z-1 Enterprises may have them as well...

Basic charging system check:
Use voltmeter to measure DC voltage across battery terminals at idle rpm (look for 13+ VDC) and at 3000~4000 rpm (look for 14~15 VDC).

If too low VDC, assure integrity of wiring to and from the regulator-rectifier unit, especially the ground connection (black/yellow wire).

If needed, there's a downloadable color wiring diagram in "Filebase" under "KZ Information" (on the green ribbon towards top of screen).

Yeah thanks a ton guys, I am a novice at best. My dad imparted the basics but left earth right before he could help me really get this bad boy running to its potential.

Yeah I picked it up on Craigs a few months back, 2500. The guy was from Germany, awesome dude.
