Your questions generate more questions. Does the bike run? Is that mileage actual? Do you want to sell the bike as is? Are you interested in a restoration?...or just running well, then sell? How big is your bag of money? There are any number of routes you can take with this motorcycle.

x2
on Mcdroid's statement
as it sits now you could put 1000.00 firm no offers and see...
it is a 700.00 bike imo...
i am not trying to insult your kz,,,as i love these bikes,,,
i think with a little work and some lucky parts snagging you could make the bike a very nice kz......
it would be a close draw on wether you would come out ahead though
as is there are enough around from time to time in like shape going for less than 700.00
on the flip side..if you wanted to find a kz to fix up and had 1000.00 to spend...then it would be a good starting point...good luck

In agreement with everyone's comments...
As in my case, spent the first 3 months deciding what I wanted to do with her... Stock rebuild or modified, in either case I wasn't doing this to sell her, waited 30 years for this.... Research was on....![;) ;)](/media/kunena/emoticons/11.png)
You'll need to decide, plan on rebuilding to sell or for your dream KZ... Either case, pending her condition of course and what you have in mind, you can easily put a couple grand into her and more.
Clean stock restored 76 KZ900... $3K and up...
How much $$$ you have to spend...
Once you start it quickly becomes an obsession, ask anyone here about that one...
Everyday ride, stock power or upgraded performance, again $$$ for the latter and can be as well for stock builds pending her condition...
NOTE: If the pistons, rings, head, timing chain components etc... are toast, you can easily put $1k plus
into the top end alone.... New or used ebay parts, again $$$ adds up quickly...
Then there's how much of this work are you doing yourself... Shop labor fee's can kill ya on $$$...
Myself and others saved a fortune accomplishing ourselves...
Example in my case, for all the fab work, welding etc... in my build, if I wasn't able to accomplish myself (had tools/experience) then no way would I have gone the modded route.
What ever you decide, take your time, research what you truly want to do on her and what you can expect in $$$.
As in most rebuild/restorations, cars or motorcycles for that matter, don't expect to make huge profits out of it... Just doesn't work that way...
Good luck,
OMR

the bike runs just fine when I dont let it sit for a year gathering my pennies to spend on her lol
the mileage is actual
Ive considered as is, Ive been fishing on CL in the tampa area to see who bites at 1000 cash OBO someone offered me 700 and respectfully said no.
Im curious, for myself whats better a mod, or and og bike. because to my knowledge this bike (minus headlight, and seat) is all original.
in fact the old airbox is running around too!
I have roughly about $1000 to spend, but if I shop right
I know I can spend $500 and this thing would look amazing.
her issues right now is cosmetic, and rubber rot due to sitting.
otherwise shes fine.
and I have All the free mechanic help I can get.
To be frank, My uncle Is doing all the dirty work. The question is do I make him do all the restoration, and fall in love? Or do I fix to running status and sell it?
Thats my own battle but I digress. Im more or less just wanting a bike, but I bought her knowing there was some kind of project in store for her but what kind, I dont know what would be best for her.
