Hello to you all was created by Trumpet675
Hey everyone, what's up. I recently purchased a '74 z1r with 2100 original miles on it. It has been in a barn for the last 27 years collecting dust and decay so it needs some TLC but I'm looking forward to making this bike shine again. :)

What would the value of said gem be if fully restored? rough estimate please

Probably not as much as you put into restoring, although I could be well mistaken, but you'll get people walking past all the farkled out cruisers to stare at your bike and you can't put a price tag on that! :D

Welcome aboard and post up pics when you can.

It depends on what you mean by fully restored. Almost perfect examples go for just over 10 G's, perfect original condition/low mileage (no need to restore) for up to 20 G's. Unless you have it done professionally, probably lucky to get over five grand.

But, the value will only go UP!!!

As has been mentioned by others, you won't get rich by restoring Z1's...just the opposite, in fact :) Z1's in excellent condition might be worth a fair amount, but it costs a fair amount to get them in that condition. For example, I have a low mileage barn-find 1975 Z2A...I bought it for perhaps more than I should have, but it'll cost an additional US$7000 in parts to restore it...I do all the labor. At that point, I won't be able to recoup my investment if I sold it in North America (not the case if I sell in Japan)

Thanks for all the input. I will get some pics up today hopefully if it'll stop raining. I do stand corrected however, it is a '74 z1 900, not a z1r.

That Z1 is a highly sought after model. If you are thinking of a bob or chop I would think twice before hacking it to pieces. That seems to be the craze these days. Yea post some pics when you can
