Hi all,
I made my first purchase in the 2-wheel department last week. I picked up a project '81 KZ440 LTD. Cost next to nothing and it was not running when I bought it, but I gave it a good carb cleaning and it fired right up. It needs a few parts along with a brake system check to make it rideable, but I should have everything in a week or two. Other than that, I'm just saying hi. You may see my tech questions come up in the other forums. I've done plenty of wrenching on vehicles with 4 wheels and boat hulls, but this is my first bike.

Welcome! You should have a lot of fun with it. I've always preferred wrenching on bikes over cars.

A warning...Old Kawasaki Affliction (OKA) always starts with one bike...then additional symptoms appear...like watching eBay at 3 AM, checking the ads in local papers, getting to know all the people at www.Z1Enterprises.com by their first names...

Radon220(don), Welcome to KZR nation, Yes, because of age x-care must be taken with pliable parts, as well as rusted parts but you'll love the kawasaki ride! And yes I agree with everything Mcdroid(Mike) said. regards Duke

Thanks for the welcome!

Cap and ducts were missing when I bought it. Only the air box is still there... I'm thinking about taking it out and using pods instead. I know this isn't the right forum... but anyone know the right jet sizes to use with pods?

Lol @ Mcdroid. Just so I know in advance... is there a treatment for OKA? :)

Yes, more Kaws!

Nates vintage bike axiom: Riding is the reward for time spent wrenching.
Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

Welcome to KZR
That little bike is a hoot to ride around on. Be careful for the cage drivers out there, ride it like every car is out to get you. Since you have been diagnosed with OKA you will have another Kaw before to long, you can never have to many.
If you plan on running pods dont throw away any parts you are removing. It would be best to get the parts you need and run a factory airbox, That leaves time for ridin instead of wrenchin, chasing the jetting can become frustrating with the benifit of a crappy running bike.

Yep, I agree! If you look at member signatures, most have more than one bike. And since you already bought your first one, your fate is sealed!!

And with that, welcome to the KZR Nation!!

What part of CT are you in?

I swear to God, it's like I live in a trailer of common sense, and stare out the window at a tornado of stupidity.
