Hi fellow air cooled friends!
13 Mar 2010 05:51 - 13 Mar 2010 10:02
Finally figured out how to join this site, I was having previous issues and in short found out I had my spam setting on auto delete !
I've been an avid M/C rider both street and dirt (and even ice) for the past 30 years. I finally aquired my 1st air cooled love a prestine '84 GPz1100A2, (I have been hounding the previous owner for the past 11 years to sell me this bike ). Finally got the owner/friend to crack and now it's mine. After much cleaning and difficult sourcing a few OEM parts, the bike is 99.9% OEM original ! 7700 miles on it. I also completely restored a 1982 GS1100E back in '05 as well, so you can see I have a love for old skool air cooled muscle bikes ! Here's some pics:

You done a good job cleaning that one up.
That baby looks like it's a screamer even when it's on the kick stand.

Shvingggggg!!!!! Oh shite I think I just wet my underwear! Well, that was a blast from the past. I remember my neighbor who had a z1 called the blue boar. I was helping him here and there putting stuff together and he got this exact same bike and told me to take it for a spin. I remember taking off from the stop sign and crackin that throttle wide open as I have a proclivity to do such things and thinking "I don't know what all the stink is about this bike is suhhhhllllllooowwww and right at that second the r's hit and my facial features became quickly distorted. Well, I think I made a sticky mess in my underwear and had a permanent grin on my face after. I had to ride the bike a little longer. Then his wife being Ms. Badass that she thought she was began to ride it. A week later I saw her full of road rash and that poor bike was destroyed. I saw that one coming. This was before I knew about the J head conversion and such. He had asked me if I wanted any parts and I think at the time he might have just given them to me being a fellow kawaholic.
Those were the days......and still are.
I have ridden so many bikes and it seems each has their sweetness.
Enjoy that ride and if you someday want to sell it PM me I for sure will buy that badboy from you.

 Verrry sweet.
My first "Big Bike" was a 1978 GS850 Shaft.
Man I miss that one. It was smooth and fast, and ran like a watch. Those old Suzuki GS bikes are second only to the KZ Bikes of the same era. You can have your V Twins. there aint nottin' like an old air cooled four cylinder to get your juices flowing.

After spending time with both the GS and the GPz, they definately handle different. The GS I like to refer to as the "gentile giant" (don't take this as the GS being slow) The GS is smooth and very torquey in the midrange. It's "sneaky fast". Adversley, the GPz is very mellow down low and into the midrange (almost feels like a 750 ), BUT once you let the GPz's engine breath above 7500 rpm's, holy power surge Batman!!! The GPz is like a freight train. The GPz turns sharper, but again adversly has some front end skitters when loaded cornering. The GS is more comfortable on longer rides. So bottom line 2 different bikes, for 2 different moods when riding.. I love em' BOTH !!!
