Heya, friends! I'm so glad to have found this forum! Info on KZ750s is really hard to find. It's cool to land in a crowd of people who know what's going on!

Here's a photo of the first thing I did to her: painting the exhaust from hideous chameleon white. (A white Kerker muffler? Why?) I used super-high temp matte black spray paint and it looked great. Since this time I need to put on a new coat to cover the rain spots, but they rather suit the... ratty look of this unlabeled machine.

I look forward to talkin' to you folks!

Thanks for the welcome, trianglelaguna. When I popped the exhaust off there were no gaskets, so I hand-cut some out of a sheet of asbestos with a box cutter.

I gets it done. :)

Welcome to the site...
my son Alex also has a KZ750 L3 but not as nice looking as yours. We do have fun working together on this bike and have learned a lot about it in the process.
Best of luck with your project, just ask if you have questions.

Oh, GrantL, if you've had your hands in an L3 enough to have an idea what's going on with it, you'd better believe I'll be asking you some questions! I've already got one posted about the console in the Electrical part of the forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys!

It's nice to look at other pictures of very similar looking bikes and having people confirm it's an L3. Identifying this thing exactly has been quite a drag and has cost me some money in wrong parts.

staniel,
I have an extra instrument console but if I remember correctly, the speedo and tach both jumped pretty erratically--thats why I changed it for an ebay find. They do come up on ebay so keep your eye out.
Check out Alex's bike on Youtube, search for " Alex's KZ750 1983 L3"
I would link to youtube, but this site doesn't seem to work on Youtube embeds lately.
Best of luck.

Pretty! Thanks for posting the video.

I go back and forth on whether I wish it still had the original paintjob on it. I kinda like the faintly green shiny gray with black everything else. It seems military-inspired.
