Hello all. I finally decided to become a member. I have been lurking for at least a year now, but I have actually started to build my bike, and I plan to document it here. Your bikes have been a major source of inspiration, and I hope to contribute with some inspiration of my own.

Anyway, I have a 1978 A2A (I think) and I plan on building it with an upside-down fork, and monoshock rear. Here are the pictures of what I have so far:

1978 KZ1000 frame.

1995 GSXR-750 - The Gods have declared that a Suzuki must be sacrificed, so that a Kawasaki may achieve greatness.

Stripped - The lightest GSXR ever!

Kawazukisaki KZXR-1750 cheap and dirty mock-up.

2004 ZX-10R What do you do at 100 mph? Shift to second gear of course!

So what do you think?

Welcome; Before you get too far, get a frame reinforcement kit From Z1E and stiffen up the frame. It makes no sense to put all of those nice performance handling goodies on the bike and all of that labor (not to mention money) and have a frame that acts like a slinky.

Thanks guys. Otakar - I was thinking along those lines. We'll be heatin' on the frame anyway to attach the mounting points for the monoshock, so why not brace it?

I guess I need to start a project thread.

this should be a very cool project.starting with a complete donor bike is the best/easiest way to do the conversion.i love feeding suzukis to kawasakis so that the kawasaki can live a nice long life, and the suzi gets the death it so rightly deserved .
welcome and keep us posted.

Thanks alot guys, and I'll def. keep the pics coming. Just bear with me as I'll always be financially limited on this project.

Trianglelaguna - I'm 6'3" and the 10 fits me pretty good, just don't expect to have enough room to get behind the windscreen at your height. If I were you I would wait to see the 2011 bike. The 2010 is the same bike as the 08-09 models with minor cosmetic changes. The rumors are that 2011 will bring a "Big Bang" engine like the current R-1. Only Kawasaki's idea is a 540 degree seperation between power strokes unlike Yamaha's 270 degree. Evidently it needs a small electric motor to keep running at low rpm's.

I think that with a pair of adjustable rearsets, you would probably like my bike. From what the ZX-10r.net members say, the new bikes feel smaller than the first gen like mine. So wait and see what 2011 brings, and if you don't like the new bike, then get an 05. They worked out the bugs from the 04, it's the best looking body imo, its the lightest, still has the wild and crazy first gen motor, and can be had for $5000 in real good shape. First gen's rule. Btw, I'm with you on the KZ - timeless.
