Nice pics Rob! Where is that anyway? Caledon Hills?

I'm still working on the ownership but that shouldn't be a problem. I've ordered some carb parts from Z1 Enterprises and Reproduction Decals. That stuff should come in this week.

The carbs are pretty much cleaned out and ready for the new brass. Then it's off to Motorsport Kawasaki in Pickering for a oil filter and a few other things. So maybe this weekend I'll fire it up for real.

Drew that seat really has to go but if I do use it I'll let a pro reshape and recover it. I am leaning towards a fairly stock looking bike though. The S3 400 may have to go in order to do this but with the 400/500 project waiting in the basement I'll still have a triple to blast around on.

Once I get going on the Z1 I'll start a new thread in the projects section.

Hey Steve!

Yes, those pics were taken in Creemore and south of Collingwood back in September. The weather was "threatening" all day but we only got rained on for a short stretch south of Collingwood. I think Rob got drenched before he got home to Keswick though!

A stock seat will look great on that beast! I've actually toyed with the idea of going back to a stock/shaved seat on mine. I can't leave anything alone!

I like the "stock look".

Drew the pic of your KZ must be a few years old, no?

The Ohlins are missing, the Corbin seat is missing and the most noticeable to me is the H2 is still together! LOL!!

I'm probably going to go with the stock Z1 forks with Race Tech springs and emulators. One of the tubes has a fair amount of pitting so new tubes will be needed. I'll probably use the Ohlins rear shocks I have that are similar to yours.

I'd love to buy the stock '73 Z1 aftermarket body work but as I said I'd have to sell the 400 in order to do that.

I guess it all depends on how well it runs before I make any real plans as it's all $$$.

Ya Steve, it took a few years to pull it all together! It at for about a year just as you see it in the pics. It was worth it and yours will be worth it too!

As far as the seat goes, I think I have a new KZ seat cover if my memory still serves me. Maybe you could just do the old "bread knife" trick on the existing LTD seat foam and throw on a new cover?? Later you could spring for a true Z1 seat cover or a new seat if you win the 6/49! :P

It sounds like you have a good plan! Just keep it simple to start with and you'll be rollin before you know it!

I like the Ohlins you've got! They'll look and work great!

Try not to sell the Triple, man!! That's a prize winning machine!

I've got a seat for a kz1000 I believe.
It came with a free kz650 I got a few months back.
The cover's not in good shape, and I can't remember off hand how the pan is.
I'll have a better look and let you guys know.
Wont fit the 650, and I already had a spare one so this seat will have to go.
The seat is in this picture:

Hey Rob, let me know what condition the pan is in, if it's not too bad maybe between you and Drew we can work something out and I'll have a somewhat stock seat.

Looks like a Bike Night in Uxbridge may be in order!

It could be dangerous mixing the valve heads and 2 smokers in the same room! LOL!!
Well at least we're all on Kawi's so there is some common ground! .:cheer:
