What's a mint 1979 KZ650-C3 worth?

Hello. My name is Steve. I've got 'the bug' after bike-sitting my nephew's '05 Honda VFX1800 for a year while he's been in Iraq. Nice bike, but not my style.

The first bike I owned was a '70 Mach III 500 I bought and totally restored while I was in college in the late 70's/early 80's. I bought a brand new '83 KZ750 in Daytona Beach and sold it before I shipped off to Germany while in the Air Force.

One of the 3 Air Force buddies I keep in touch with bought a '79 KZ650-C3 a little over a year ago and spent the winter going through it completely. It's in mint condition - all original - even the paint - with a vintage Kerker header. I rode it this summer and it looks and rides like it just came off the showroom floor! He's fallen on hard times and is looking to sell it. I've looked everywhere online and can't find anything comparable for sale.

This bike is really in collector-condition with 11k miles. I want to offer him a fair price - does anyone have any idea what this bike would go for? Thanks!

$2000 - 3000, depending on what was done with the bike IMHO.

a mint bike goes for a mint!! It would be worth more though with stock exhaust. I just saw an immaculate 78 SR for 1250 here close to my home. If times weren't what they are it would be in my garage right now. A fair offer for your friend who is desperate to sell would be around 1500 or so. That is just my opinion though. Offer what it is worth to YOU not him.

A picture is worth a thousand words! But I'm agreeing that about $1500-$2000 would be right if it's as "mint" as you say. Would love to see some nice pictures!
