Alright! Another 550! Same year as mine.

Probably the best place to find your parts will be Ebay. How long has it been sitting? You will want to check compression and clean the carbs just for starters.

The 550 is a great little bike.

Welcome! My KZ550 is my first too! (though it was running when I got it lol).

I agree with harm, ebay is a great resource for finding parts, so long as your careful. Z1 enterprises (you can find links all over the board) is another good place to go!.

Start with general mantinence before you start 'er up, new battery, change the oil, clean out the carbs and gas tank, clean out the brake fluid (but since you gotta get a new master anyway that's already on the list). Just the basic stuff!

Fun bikes! Good luck!

If you get new coils, get 3.0 ohm coils. They will work for points (which is stock for your bike), but will also work for electronic ignition if you decide to convert later. If you have to buy new points, I would save the money and get a Dyna S or better yet, a factory Kaw electronic ignition off some 81 to 83 kz550.
