Hey! This forum is great!
07 Sep 2009 20:08
Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. For the time being, i am an american living in japan close to Osaka. I have always wanted a Z ever since i was in high school, now that im working full time i could finally afford one. Picket up a 77 kz650 for about $2,000. Needs some serious attention, so its my new project. Thanks in advance for answering some of my upcoming questions!

nice to meet all of you. I will definitely post some pics as soon as i have time. As for my japanese, its pretty decent. I am actually considering starting my own import and export business. What kind of things would you need from japan that you cant find in the states? Even if you dont plan on buying anythings, i would still be interested in knowing!

I want a Harley Davidson of Tokyo shirt XXL. My Harley friends will get a kick out of it when we go riding, since they are always talking crap. I would take one from any where in Japan though. PM me with a price.

Import/export? I don't know if Jeff at Z1 Enterprises is lacking for contacts, but he might be a resource to talk to.
Welcome aboard, and how about some pics of your 650?

Welcome.
Did you buy your 650 in Japan?
Just wondered how many smaller KZs are kicking around in Japan, even though they did get a lot of models we didn't get to see, such as 400s etc.
I know the Z/KZ 900/1000+ are popular there.

There are quite a few Z's around here, obviously much more than back home. Although because of their popularity, they can be pretty pricy. A nice z1 over here usually sells for about $12-15,000. But when you get into the smaller engines, such at the 650's, 550's?, and 400's, they sell for pretty cheap. People here seem to focus entirely on the 1000 and 900cc Z's. There are also a ton of 750cc's here.
I picked up my 650 for about $2,000. It has 21,000 kilometers, engine runs, but it needs some work such as a new main switch (current one can be started with a screwdriver), new carburetor gasket, new seat, it just needs some all over TLC, just to give you an idea of what i got for $2,000.
