Hi everyone.
I'm from the west coast of Norway. One and a half year ago i bought a -77 z1000A1 after looking at the z1's for several years. I've been a fan of these bikes since my childhood back in the early seventies. Dropped off riding bikes in the early 90's and just started up again after bying this bike.
My plan ahead is to get it running properly and then have it as a rolling project. Due to time issues i havent done too much the time i've had it, but some things have been done. After the picture was taken i have changed the innertubes (with original lenght) when rebuilding the forks. Also changed the bearings in the swingarm, and got the brakes working properly. The bike also have a running engine now but i need too shim the cams as the clearence is from 0,15mm to 0,25mm. Only two shims are within 0,06 to 0,09.
Also planning to paint tank and panels on it and get the emblems back on. (I have them)
The bike have by the way been running with the turbo kit since the early eighties and is bored out to 1200cc. I'm the third owner to this bike.
Thanks.

Picture of the bike right after i bought it.

Thanks, nope the frame is not braced. But in time i guess it will bee braced. Only problem is that the frame has been chromed, witch i'm not sure that i like or not.... And that have to be removed or rechromed then. Guess i will bee removing the chrome when i get the time. Just trying to get it up and running as i mentioned.

welcome to z-jungle! B) the 77-78 kz frames were a major improvement over the flexi flyer z1 frames so bracing isnt as much of a deal with them .as the old saying goes:chrome wont get ya home, but it sure looksgood while youre pushing it!

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

chrome is nice if you develop any cracks in the frame you'll see them right away.

Thanks
I will take some recent photo's when i get home form work in a couple of days. The previous owner have used the bike regulary with no bracing since the early eighties, so i guess it can't bee that bad. I will not compare it with a newer bike, and know it have it's week point around the frame. Just want a bike to have some fun, besides being a bike that i really like. I want it to be a rolling project, then i can give it small improvements now and then. If i dismantle it i guess it would take me years to get it finished.

Found some photos of the turbo.

I had the turbo apart for a check.
