Coming back to life?
08 Aug 2009 11:50
Hey all. Stumbled on this wonderful site by accident from a yahoo newsgroup. My bike is a 1973 Kawasaki Z1. Build date 9/72 z1f-884. i bought this bike in 1986 saving it from a dusty shed for $400. I rode it on a regular basis until 2003. after not riding it for a few months the batt went dead, carbs gummed up and slides started sticking.
I got sidetracked with other toys, dirt bikes, jets ski,
boat etc... my trusty kaw sits in the corner of the garage waiting for my attention. Lately i've been toying with the idea of bringing her back to life once again. I'm a ford senior master technician and have the mechanical skills but am going to rely on info from this site especially the carb section. She will need at least new tires, fork seals, oil change, front pads, tank flush, batt and carb work. My bike is stock except for pipe, bars, paint and turn signals. Wish me luck.

Welcome to KZR,
You came to the right place. There are plenty of people with the knowlege you will be seeking. Great deal for $400 way back when.

Welcome Richellist1! Sweet...an early numbered Z1...you have a treasure...if you ever get tired of that scooter, you'll have no trouble finding a new home for her.
