New member from Cleveland, Ohio

Greetings everyone. I am currently looking at getting back into riding. I have owned 6 bikes over the years (Ninja 250,ZX6E,ZX6R,VFR800,VTR1000,Z1000). I sold the Z-1000 a couple years ago before my son was born. My brother just picked up a 1980 KZ1000 and he is nagging me to get another bike. I started looking at all of the customizing going on here and I really like it. I got tired of plastic fantastic sportbikes. I want something with character. Not to mention that I was always tempted to do dumb things. I am looking for something that I can just enjoy riding. I want to just hook up with my bro and go hit some twisty backroads and enjoy. I'd like to keep it on the less expensive side, say under 3K total. Style wise, I'd like to have something that looks kinda sporty modern retro if you will. So there you go... I need something fun to ride (comfortable please) that can be made to look sporty. What should I be looking at? Thanks in advance!

I just bought my Bike for $500.00 and I love it. It handles great,looks great and runs great. I would look for one just like it. 1977 KZ650 B1 with 10,000 miles on it.Easy on the pocket book. Its not real big but it mooves...:woohoo: \par

welcome fellow ohioian,as far as a bike i would look at a zrx100\1200 you get the style and the modern amenities, you find a bike head towards ashtabula county lottsa back roads around here

ZRX is the answer to all your questions. You probaly won't find one cheap, but it sounds just like the kind of bike you're describing. Good luck!

I'll second that, what area of Cleveland are you from? I grew up on the west side, W150th and Lorain rd. area and was first exposed to Kawasakis in May of 1971 when Rick Case opened a store on Lorain ave. I hung around there so much that I ended up getting my first job there at the tender age of twelve. Bought my first new bike in July of 71 a 1971 MT-1 for $300.00 OTD. I've been riding Kawasakis ever since. I now live in Akron and have an ever expanding collection of vintage Kaws, I think I've finally passed the 20 mark but to be truthful I've been too busy lately to get an actual count. If you are looking for something vintage stop by I've got way too many and I might just have what you are looking for or know where you might be able to find it.

I actually live in North Royalton... Gringo, That sounds pretty sweet. My brother and I would love to come check you out sometime. Can't see too many vintage Kaws

I may want to stay more on the vintage side than the ZRX, so I might be looking for a KZ650, KZ750, or KZ1000.
