I've got a 79KZ1000st I bought 3yrs ago for $400. I've put some work into it but it needs more. I'd been laid off since Mar 4th but called back today so I'm hoping to continue redoing it. Just bought a factory Service Manual on ebay. He also had an NOS gasket set for a KZ1000A1 listed for $79.99. Is that a good deal & how much of it would be compatible w/an E1 or is there too much of a diff. to be worth it? Or does anyone know where I could find one for an E1 similarly priced? Thanks.

Here's a replacement gasket set (not NOS but there's no real world difference) for the bike. A1 set would be missing some of the gaskets you need for the shaft drive.

$66 Gasket set
79 KZ1000ST

Thank's for the response. I didn't see it till today(7/28) cause I actually got called back to work after being laid off since March 4th & ended up working 66hrs this week. I'm a little tired still! I'm now supposedly going back to my old schedule which was just plain old 3rd shift hrs (10:30pm-7:00am), although it's not out of the realm of possibilities I may have to do some overtime again. I did find another set from Partsnmore for $79 as well plus an entire top end rebuild kit from WISECO starting at around $443.87. I'll have to contact them to be sure on everything it includes but it looks pretty promising.

Welcome to KZR, sounds like some promising leads. How about some pictures and some bike info in your signature.

When I figure out how to post this info I will as I'm a borderline idiot when it comes to computer navigational skills. I'm betting a 10yr old could outdo me when it comes to finding your way around a computer or various sites.

Follow KZ250LTD's advice...the gasket set he linked is for your bike...the KZ1000A1 set is not for your bike. The only issue is that Z1E is temporarily out of stock for the E1 set...call anyone at Z1E and they will be able to tell you when they'll be restocked.
