Howdy
30 Apr 2009 16:33
I'm back on a bike again after a 15 year hiatus and my "new" ride is an '81 KZ1000 LTD. Set me back 300 USD for the bike and another $1600 to get him back in street (total stock) condition.
I'm delighted to find a forum devoted to these wonderful beasts and I hope to be able to contribute more than just some fanb0i puling about "me too!" and "cool" but you never know.
Respects,
TK

Sold my last bike and spent a few years and a few thousand dollars on keeping a Spitfire on the road. Then my son came along. He's old enough now to be safe on the back and he'll prolly want his own bike in another four or five years.
Tip from painful experience: Stick to bikes, Spitfires are for full-time mechanics or people with a mechanic for a son in law. Think about the worst stories you've heard about old Harleys, multiply by a factor of ten, and then try shopping for parts that don't exist. There's a reason yours broke, and it's the same for every other part made for those cars.
