if you do change the front end out for safety reasons keep the origanal one around so it can be restored at a later date if you really want to race seriously this is not the one to use as technoligy has passed this one by but if you want to take it out occasionally to show how it used to be and that it can still make it down the track that is different thing there are alot of good race bikes around for sale right now because off the downturn in the econamy so check out drag bike .coms classified section you will be amazed. and seriously try to keep it the same as much as possible if you do take something off put it away so it can be restored. i would be aiming to make some exibition runs with that bike and race something else.

This is the 77 I traded for it. It was in need of a restore as well. All the chrome was pitted and the usual maintenance stuff needed to be done. It had a 1015 kit in it and accell coils and wires, a Kerker pie and lowering blocks.

Go to zedder.com and scroll down to Kawasaki info and check your vin number on the engine and that will give you a year for the engine.

Haven't seen one of those dragbikes in years. Lots of guys used to run either pro-stock or b/m and use that same motor combination to run b/gas with the dragster chassis like you have there. I think Bo O'Brachta had one and I know that a team out of Americus, Georgia had the pair. The guys name was Mike Bruso and I seen him set the Pro-Stock record on a stock wheelbase Z1 at an amazing 9.99 without wheelie bars!!! LOL That was HUGE at the time. He ran a dragster like yours he called the "Dollar Gobbler" that won a lot of races. He was the man to beat at the time. Up til a few years ago, he was still street-racing a built Z1 against the modern bikes down in Florida and holding his own! Used to be you would see a bike like that make an appearance now and then but hardly anyone runs a dragster chassis anymore. I tried to find a dragster chassis to run a few years ago to be different but gave up. That is a good find. I agree with everything timebomb has said about keeping it as is as much as possible. Try to find out all you can about it's history. You may have a piece of history there.

oh have i mentioned that i love that bike it would so cool to make a pass or two with thing smoking the tire for the first few hundred feet, what a blast that would be if you could find the right tire these new style of tires would hook to good to run with out a bar.
