Hey guys!

I recently posted a thread asking for suggestions for buying a bike, which I thank you all for responding to...however a kz900 recently came available in the local classifieds, which, I think I am going to purchase.

This being said, I have previously owned a 1978 kz650 which I loved, but it was stubborn as hell, and I never really got the full kz experience out of her. This kz900 bike seems to be running good, with a few kinks which should be easy to figure out. I am not positive which year it is... but believe it is a 77. It has mag wheels and a fairing which has the original paint; maroon in color. The engine does not have the typical kz###********** vin, but a less familiar vin number, and as soon as I figure it out will post it.

All of this considered, the bike looks fantastic, and although I am going to test drive it in a few days, is said to run like a champ.

I am wondering what I am getting into... I know the carbs probably need to be synced and maybe cleaned, but other than that no mechanical issues. What are the pros and cons with the 900? Fast? Fun? Reliable? Any things I should look for when buying this bike?

Again... I am almost going in blind, and have been itching to get back on a kz, bad itch, so I dont want my inexperience and impulse spending on a kz to lead me to regret this later on.

All opinions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

-Brian

bigger badder better a bit heavier than your 650 but also has 250cc's more to make up for it dosen't have to work as hard to go as quick just a more complete package almost as good as the 1000. about 100cc's shy. no replacement for displacement. don't get me wrong the 650 is a great bike the proof is how many there are being rebuilt and ridden 30 years after they where built but in all honesty the 900 is just a more well rounded overall package.

If it's a 77 it will more than likely be a 1000. I think a few 900's slipped thrugh in 77 but not for sure. If it has original paint Ron will fall in love. The main things on these bikes are the carbs, valve clearence, and weak spark. All of those are easy fixes. Compared to the 650 you will in a whole different world. Back in 86 or so my 900 was down for a little while and I borrowed a friends 650. What a let down. Nothing better than a big bike running right.
