Haven't posted here since 2005. I was a heavy poster back then with my 77' KZ650. I have now inherited a free 1978 KZ650 that "supposedly" doesn't run. It was running but I know the timing wasn't right and then he took off the carbs and drilled the jets. Now it wont start according to him.

My first question is ,what size drill should he have used to drill the jets with pod filters and a 4-1 kerker with baffle?

Second question is does anyone have the correct jets for these carbs that I can buy.

Third ...does wired George still rebuild carbs?

He shouldn't have drilled the jets, he should have just replaced them with the right size. With a baffled Kerker and pods I'd put 17.5 pilots and probably 112.5, maybe 115 mains (depends on the kind of pods...K&N will flow better than the cheap Emgo or Uni). My 77 with K&N pods and minimally baffled MAC was jetted at 17.5 pilots and 115 mains and had perfect plug chops. If you have anything but K&N pods put the 112.5s in. Also the needle should be clipped on the #4 slot.

Jeff at Z1 should have those jets available all day long, I sold the set of those size jets I had on hand awhile back or I'd hook ya up.

Welcome back, Mike.

My guess on the first question is "much larger than he should have used". :D

Second, check out Z1E as Axton says.

Third, yes. He has his own website up these days so you can catch him there although he pops in here too.

You might also want to check out kz650.info
