Hello, form Portland, OR
22 Feb 2009 15:23
Well, I finally joined up! So glad to see such a great forum for such a great group of bikes. I have been over on the SOHC4.net forum for some time but as I realised that I have more KZs than anything else it's about time I became a member. I am member smw70ss on ebay, the seller of the blue viton valve stem seals and the brake rotor drilling/surface grinding service. I have several projects going that I will try to share with everyone in the near future. Thank you!

Hi Chris,
Welcome to KZR! You resurfaced a rear disk for one of my 1300's a year or so ago. Great Job!
Glad to have you aboard.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Most of my bikes are in a state of disassembly at the moment but I will try to post pics as they become available. A result of too many projects and not enough time. During the day I work at a local machine shop as a cylinder head tech and in the evenings and weekends I do ebay stuff, rotor work and other side jobs such as custom valve train parts. Every once in a while I actually get to wrench on my own stuff. I have an '80 KZ750 LTD that I am working on to ride this summer and I will be starting a thread on that shortly. Was that 1300 rotor one that was badly worn? I remember doing one a year or two ago that was beyond service limits but the owner just wanted to see how it turned out.

Yeah! Another Portlander!
I think there's enough of us on here now to organize some group rides this summer.

Hey Chris, Yes that was my rotor, it's still hanging on my wall. You did a Great job!
The best thing you can do is redouble your efforts and git one O them bikes on the road. I'd love to be part of an Oregon circuit this summer.
I'll ride my 81 1300.
It's damn near 1000 miles around the State. We could pick up and drop off riders at several rendezvous while all the time documenting some of the great motorcycle roads in Oregon.
How about it?

I am looking forward to riding this summer and am trying to get my KZ750LTD finished. Still waiting for a few parts to show up. Its kind of an experiment to see how an LTD model can handle while still retaining the leading axle forks and 16" rear wheel. The front end has been lowered an inch and has a fork brace. The rear end has been raised over 2 inches with Pregressive shocks. It has clip-ons installed and I am working on the rearsets and solo seat/tail section. Already have the Bridgestone BT45 tires mounted. Engine is internally stock with pod filters, jetting and 4-1 Vance and Hines header and one of my own canister mufflers. It's the first LTD I have owned and it looks pretty unique. I will get a thread started and post some pics.
