Im new with my 1978 kz650 ... was created by jerseykawa
Well after searching thru the internet i came across this website and forum. I wanted to come in and say hello. A few months ago i bought a clean 1978 Kz650 in Ny. brought it over to NJ but of coarse the weather hasnt let me ride it much.

Its in storage, so i plan on starting it from time to time. i have alot of plans for her. the frame was redone and whole bike has been repainted black. it has 13k which is great mileage for this bike since it runs awesome. Previous owner put K&N air filters, Chromed and polished alot of odds and ends.It also has the 4 to 1 headers and what looks like a Kerker pipe. theres more to be done, as i will change the bars and grips. The only issue the bike had was the seatlock was broken. last week i found a new lock and cylinder w/key which i swapped.

My plans are to go more euro with it or maybe get dirtbike bars. It will be a hybrid between a streetfigher and a cafe racer once im done. Changes will include: Fenders, bars, blinkers, headlight and tailights by this coming summer. B)

Thanks!

J.

welcome, although I'm brand new here too. I just picked up the exact same bike, I have it almost completely torn down now. Mine needs a new seatlock with key too. Where did you find yours?

Welcome to the club. You won't find a better all around ride. I've had about 4 or 5 KZ650s as well as other KZs and I still love my first 650 that I've had since 1994. Love it and it will love you back!
