[file] Thanks for having site, been visitor a few times and finnally joined. When i figure out how to transfer pics from old comp to this new one I will have pics, hopefuuly by sunday.Well, I just saved a 79 KZ650B from being parted outand I have a concern. I the book (clymer) it sates firing order to be 1,4,2,3, how can this be? I have a 78 Z1R and it is 1324,I also have 76 KZ900 is the same 1324.My question is is the 650 that different or am i just second guessing what i know.
78 Z1R is mostly stock Vance and Hines,29 smoothbores,Dyna ign, dyna coils, and custom paint and just so dam nice looking.
76 KZ900 Z1 vance and hines 29 smoothbores, dyna ignand coils and nice just not the Z1R.
79KZ650 good shape will be a project for a while but i do have another set of smooth bores to put on it.Don't ask I bought a set for Z1R and moved and lost,so i bought another set installed and low and behold found the first set.The 900 came with smoothbores so the 650 will get a set too.
Also, have a 2003 FZ1 1000 Ivans stage 3 jet kit, full hindle exhaust, powder coated wheels, chin fairing and lots more. I know no a kz but it is a Z1 so I thought it kind of fit in the stable.
Ok i have rambled enough, just thanks for having site

Hi and thanks for the firing order. There is nothing like the power of the Z1R, that being said really love the secure feeling of the Fz1 going into a corner,as we all know kz's well don't corner all that well.Well better than the h2's.Here is a pic of the 650 i rescued, trying to get my pride and joy to load but pic file to larege guess i will just take new pic hehe.

WOW! That's way too sharp looking a bike to be considered for parting out. Good thing you rescued it!
You can only be young once, but you can be immature forever!

Welcome to the board, KZ1R.
You'll find that, provided your rear shocks are in good condition and your tires are in good shape and correctly inflated, your 650 HASN'T got a hinge-in-the-middle ride like a lot of 70s Japanese bikes have. The 650 frame is a well designed piece of work and is no flexy flier like the H2/Z1/KZ900 is.
As for firing order, I've never known of a Japanes inline 4 cylinder that fires anything BUT 1-2-4-3!!! I can't believe Clymer would make a mistake on something that elementary!!!
Or maybe not.....
