New Guy From Philly With a Vulcan

Hello folks!

I am a new rider, fresh out of training with a 1996 Vulcan 500 that got last Friday and managed to ride once 2 days ago. The bike runs great but its got a few dings that I need to fix on the gas tanks and headlight. Here are some pictures. All ideas, suggestions and insults are welcome.

Tank - Get the rust gone, paint is as close as you can. Call it a war wound and wear it with honor.

Light - Buff it out as much as you can and make the light straight. Another badge of honor.

Nothing bad about the bike but my bets on you will want something different on down the road. Make the next bike your money pit. It's a nice first bike or utility bike. Always nice to have a backup. Gas goes back up to $4 or $5 and she goes up too. At least that's my take.

I'd also just purchased a 2006 Vulcan for my boys and wife to learn on. I rode it myself to work many times and hey, it's a keeper!
Does anyone knows how to make the pipes louder? After market slip ons, etc?

Tough motors....they clatter like a hay baler....but they keep on going with little/no attention from anyone. You really have to try hard to kill one of them.
And to think they sprang from the humble and much maligned KZ400.....
KZ650C2 Stock/mint. Goes by "Ace".
H2A Built from a genuine basket case. Yes,it's a hot rod.
GT550A Stock/mint. Pleasant stroker.
2006 Bandit 1200S for easy LD rapid transit
Various H2 projects in the wings.
