Howdy All! I just picked up my second Z1000. It is a '79 model and a complete basket case that I picked up from eBay for a mere $1100. I bought it to replicate the bike from the Mad Max movie. I'm about to start a thread over in the project forum so if anyone has any ideas let me know. Thanks.

I'm thinkin' that there are a few KZR members in the neighborhood of Dallas...if we can get them to respond to this thread, you may be able to meet some like-minded Z-heads.

I'm new here too, and I know exactly what you mean about lots of harleys they come flying down the highway right past my little town on their way to sturgis every year, I just might have to get me the newer concours. B)
I never could justify paying extra, just for a name brand,to be cool. How often do most people ride anyways?
Since 1/2 of North Dakota is owned by Texans, I might just be seeing you around my neck of the woods someday!
That's a way COOL project by the way! :woohoo:

Thanks guys. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted with pics on the project as I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this idea. I live just north of Dallas on Lake Lewisville. Yeah, the guys who ride Harleys here are all yuppies and weekend warriors meaning they only ride on the weekend with all their buddies. They have $600 outfits and leather they wear but no helmets. I guess I don't mind being different, lol. My current daily driver is my '07 Ducati Sport Classic 1000S. I rode to work this morning despite it being 36F. It's supposed to be around 70 this afternoon, though. So freezing on the way to work can be justified.
