Hi from Kelowna, BC

Hi Everyone,

Just introducing myself as I'm new to the site. I've got a '78 650 i'm doing by best to reduce to bits and piece back together by spring.

Some of you might know me as 'andy' on kz650.info.

I'm not new to the old bike scene, my first bike was a '78 cb550K about 8 years ago. Still have it, still my favourite. I moved on to newer bikes (2003 Z1000 (what a beauty), 2005 Suzuki V-strom (so much fun, so good at EVERYTHING) but although they might be more advanced, they didn't do it for me. I like to have the only bike of it's type in town, so here I am with a tired loooking '78 kz650.

Anyway, Hi, and I'm looking forward to picking you brains this winter as I polish this turd!

there are lots of good people on here to use for referance quite a few experts on 650's use them and send lots of pictures. welcome.

Welcome Andy, it's great to have a member from Kelowna,for as far as I know, I've been the only Okanagan member here for some time, riding out of Peachland. Let's get out for a ride when you're ready.

Another guy just joined from Vancouver Island. He's got a 650C2. I see yours has the C bodywork but the rest looks like B mechanicals. What the heck does the neck sticker call it, anyway ??? Hopefully she'll be up and running soon.
I used to be a died-in-the-wool Honda 4 guy but after riding my 650C2 for 2 seasons, I'm a KZ believer. The 650 is a quantum leap in all modes when compared to a 550 Honda, as nice as the Honda is. The KZ is just a lot better bike all the way 'round, IMO. I'm sure you quickly appreciate how good the KZ is once you have her back on the road.

I lived in Pen City for 13 years,before moving out here to the Kootenays.Still get back every summer to have beers with the boys in Pen.
We'll have to hook up next summer,and the 3 of us(Coldankles)go for a ride.

What a beautiful part of the country to be fortunate enough to live in. I was in Kelowna for a few days last June for the first time. Very impressive place. The roads look perfect for motorcycling.
I was at a convention in the Grand Hotel and the last evening there I had a chance to look around. There was a bar next door which had quite an assortment of great looking bikes parked outside including a couple of older KZs so I figure there are a few more potential members there.

I dont remember a 650 though. Great looking one you got there.

Well, NDkaws, if not as an honorary Canadian, then at least as an honorary Manitoban.....you know....the province just to the north of you....right?? I'm from there originally but I moved to get away from the straight/boring roads. Real cruiser country, if you get my drift...definitely not REAL KZ roads, IMO.

I'll settle for that!
Do you have to watch out for Moose?
