hey all, bought a 1983 KZ 1100 LTD and now i dont know what to do, i need a service manual for my model but my Kawasaki dealer said they didnt make one for that year.....any help here would be great, ill get pics up soon, bought the bike with the carbs removed, was told the bike ran before this and that he cleaned the carbs......I would love to get it running and then turn it into an old rat or bobber style bike. Am i in the right place?

your in the right place.
the very first thing you do is pm me and i will drive to you and double your money.

you got a hell of a deal there bud.
the head alone sells on e-bay for anywhere from $200-$500.

don't chop it. that's what the honda and yahama's are for.

1100's are to nice to chop.

i would love to see some pictures of your new bike.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

welcome mox369...hell of a deal you fell into...be prepared to spend a lot more more than your initial $75 though:laugh:   As for the info from your dealer re the shop manual, he is quite wrong...and you'll soon discover that most dealerships are also quite wrong when it comes to info on older Kawasaki's. Learn to avoid them...order parts over the internet, etc. The manual as follows...follow this link (to eBay). There is one there right now for a reasonable price.

mox369, welcome to the KZR nation. Great to have you here and yes this is the right place. $75 USD for an 1100... you have my admiration already. :woohoo:

I get most of my parts from the classified ads here on KZR and from a very good supplier many here have used called Z1 Enterprises:

Best of success. :)

PS
Could you add your year, model and location to your signature. It will help you get the very best responses and it's considered real friendly too.

Ok so i went back out to the bike and saw that it was inspected 11/82, so the bike is a 1982 and not 83 like i previously stated, i bought the bike off of Craigslist, the only bad thing is that it doesnt have a gas tank, but i think i want the look of something a little sleeker anyway, the deal also came with a brand new motorcycle jack (see pictures)

Does anyone have pictures of kz1100's turned into a rat or bobber? I am looking for ideas right now!

My plans are to get it running and put back together, then tear it all down, rewire through the frame, put drag bars on it, lower the rear, hack off everything past the rear shocks and create my own seat and seat pan, dont know if i want to add forward controls or not yet.

Sorry bout the bad picture quality

any bike built after june in certain year is considered the next years model your bike was built in november so that would make it a 1983.
