New member saying hello
13 Nov 2008 19:32
Hi ,I am a new member but have been searching and reading as many posts as possible to try to understand what I am going to do with my bike.I am the 3rd owner ,bike has 60000km on it but looks as though it was always cared for and am sure was not driven hard.1 plug fouls every 500km(valve oil seal I would guess)I am confident that the bike is all stock and needs tlc + .I am in the process of removing all the body parts and polishing ,painting ,replacing whatever I can .Got some parts from ebay that were needed .I picked up some 3ohm green dyna coils but no wires yet .When I got the bike I had to move it about 1 mile so I drove it ,running on 1-2 cylinders and back brake siezing as I went.I stripped the carbs as far as I was comfortable (replaced a few o rings /gaskets )and the bike fires on all 4 cylinders and fairly smooth when it warms up .Stock jets are 107.5 and the carbs do not have an accelator pump on them but an airline goes to the fuel valve.I also picked up a new wiseco 1075 kit on ebay from a guy who changed his mind on his project .I am thinking about doing the whole bike ,fairing ,bags and all in a bright kawi green .It may look like a bit much with all that green so comments are welcome.I am in Newfoundland Canada ,so I don't think overheating will be a problem .All comments and advice are very welcomed.

Hello everyone and thanks for the greetings.I thought about getting rid of the fairing and bags but now I got a cycle sound and some speakers so it might turn out to be a bit of a sleeper .I am hoping to redo every single piece of the bike .I started using never dull and now its baking soda and water with a nail brush followed by buffing wheels and compound on my bench grinder. At first I cut down to the copper on a few bolts but I am getting the hang of it.Could take a while to do and when I am done with the polishing it will all be covered with the vetter lowers but I will know that it shines  I will post pics as I go .Some of the bikes that I have wore out(or crashed) over the last few years are (when I was littler was an indian 80 dirt bike which I crashed and fixed for years then it was a suzuki gt380 that I truly enjoyed .I then got a kz650b and later a 650c ,my favorite and then a ltd 440 ... which I didn't have for long because I got a h2750 tripple which after 6 months I flipped on a catwalk and broke the crank along with many other parts
Took a break for a couple years then got a weather siezed mk11 1000 then a friend broke the block trying to get apart for me and that was history.Got a 1980 yamaha 1100 venture (dressed xs1100 venture ,transition year for the model). Then got a newer vstar 1100 custom 2 cyl cruiser and after 3 yrs realized that its not for me so here I am after 35yrs of bikes doing up a 30 yr old bike that I am pretty sure will outlast me if I don't crash.Had a few other bikes but can't recall right now .You know your getting old when no one else know the bikes you know ct70,st90 xl125 cb360t cb554 ect.I will be visiting all the respective forums as I work my way from the back tire to the front tire and spending a bit of extra time on the middle ,cams 1075 porting ect. Thanks again and here is a pic of my ex vstar ,George in Newfoundland .
