Hi
I sold my last bike, 1982 cb750 nighthawk around 18 years ago.
I've just about bought a kz750 for $1000, it's a 1982 or 1983 four cylinder with 8000 km. I haven't seen it yet but the guy assures me it's in good shape. Sounds like a steal, the problem is it's been sitting for 8 years and it get's to -40 here in the winter. I don't know if it was stored correctly. I'm going to fix it over the winter, the riding season will start around the end of April. I'll post a before picture when I get the bike. I can't wait to get back in the saddle.:cheer:
Picture is posted (My new 1982 KZ750H).

Welcome to the site. I've really enjoyed my '82 kz750....it was last winters project, and will probably be this winters too. Hope it comes with a manual! Sitting for 8 years would make me a little nervous.

Mine sat 2yrs in the open and another 10-11 just setting over in the corner of the garage. After a little blood, sweat and tears, she came together pretty well. These old engines seem to be able to wake up pretty quick.
Definately get a manual.
Good luck and welcome.

Welcome to the nut house. These bikes come out of the woodwork and become ridable quick.

Be sure to get a shop manual and post those questions you can't find answered searching.

The thing I like most about the KZ is there are so many parts that cross from one model to another.

Welcome,
It's been 8 years since I been on 2 wheels. My 900 sat in a wrecking yard for too long . She runs great but I'm finding more and more things to replace due to exposure. It has been frustrating but I'm really close. Luckily I live in Texas so the winters are fairly rideable. Hang in there and, by all means let us know how it goes
God Bless,

-40 here in the winter

And they say I'm crazy for living in Arizona... Why in God's name would any live in something so friggin cold is beyond me.

Hell, my freezer doesn't get that cold...

Hopefully the previous owner didn't leave it outside during the 8 years for that would truly be a shame...

Leave the GF, wife, kids out there but not the KZ or the dog for Christ sakes...

Welcome aboard... and if you haven't heard yet, we're picture whores here. Pictures are a must throughout your projects. No pictures then you must leave... That's the rules.

Just got some pictures, greyscale printouts from a crappy printer. This bike has been in a garage and appears to have been very well stored. It looks new, the guy put two new tires on last year. He says it hasn't been sitting idle, just hasn't been used much. I'll be going to see it on the weekend. I'll likely buy it and get some pictures up before the snow flies.
Might even get it on the road.

I bought mine after it sat for 18 years. This is the 3rd KZ i've resurrected after sitting for numbers of years. These old Kaws (if not abused) seem to wake up after long naps very well. Take your tome and best of luck.

I saw the bike a couple days ago, it's dirty, the forks are leaking and the carbs are gummed up but everything else looks good. I won't be riding it for about 6 months so I have some time to get it all cleaned up. I'll post pictures as sson as I get the bike to my place. I gotta use a trailer now, the snow started two days ago.:(
- 40 isn't as bad as it sounds, I've slept outside in a snow cave when it's been -26.:)
