new guy with some questions

So heres the story, on monday at about 6:00pm I was the winning bidder on a 1978 kz1000 ltd. On wednesday I borrowed my bosses truck and made the 6 hour round trip to go pick up the bike. Get to the guys house and he starts it up. Sounds good, no smoke, not too tappy or anything. So we load the bike, and come back home. I was pretty tired so I unloaded the bike and went to bed. when I woke up this morning I went out to take a little ride around the neighborhood and my rear tire was flat.

What is the widest size tire that will fit a 1978 kz1000 ltd ?

I have the same model/yr as your bike. Congrats on the purchase!

I have a 130/90-16 on mine. I think that's about as wide as you want to go with a stock swingarm.

130-90-16 is the biggest you can fit in it. You will also need a new tube. If you know how, take the wheel in or they will rape you. :ohmy: Welcome to the site and make sure you post some pics. Also put your location and bike model in your signature line. Chances are there are members close to you.

I'll try to post up some pics of my bikes tomorrow. Pumped up the tire and took er' for a little spin today, interestingly powerful, I love the sound of the engine, and shes definantly faster than my cx500. I think she needs some new gas and I cant get the kickstart lever to flip out. We'll see. I've got all winter to work on her. I just got the carbs jetted on my other bike and its running real smooth so I think I'm gonna finish out the season with that.
