Hello all. I have owned a 1976 KZ900 since 2002, when my father in law and I rebuilt it. We did the standard mods; 4 to 1 exhaust, electronic ignition, 29mm carbs, dual front disc, single rear disc, swapped bronze bushings for bearings in the swingarm, changed front (12 tooth) and rear (36 tooth) sprokets and lowered the front by sliding the trees down on the forks. I've been inside the motor, but not the tranny and am pretty good with the carbs. I deffinatley don't know everything about these bikes, but I do have quite a bit of first hand knowledge I'm always willing to share. Had a Kaw '82 750CSR and a '78 KZ650 before this bike and also own a 06 VROD.

I'm here because this winter the 900 is getting some needed attention. The plan is to powder coat all metal black, paint the body stuff dark blue, install the 1197cc kit for the motor, slam it to the ground and figure out something for the swingarm. I'm looking at an extended after market swing arm or a GSXR rear end??? I'll do progressive springs in the forks I think... So deffinatley looking for some ideas and how to's from you all.

I'll get some pictures up soon.

Yes, they are smooth bores, and the 4to1 header is a Kerker with no baffle - nothing sounds better IMHO.

As for the avatar, thats my dunebuggy I built 4 years ago. It's just a 1641cc (one over stock) dual port head VW engine running dual Kadron carbs. Swing axle tranny and spindle front. (short travel). It looks a little different now. I made it street legal last year, so now I can pull those wheelies on the street. It's fun for the trails here in Michigan, but nothing like the $150,000 machines they have out west.
