New bike, New to KZR!! was created by civilengr3
Got me a '77 KZ650 C almost two weeks ago now, although I haven't been able to ride it yet b/c of front m/c issues:S . Have a new one coming, so hopefully very soon. In the meantime, I've been tinkering with it: cleaning inside of gas tank, cleaning carbs and chain and wheels. Got it running pretty good now. Sounds mean and strong. Can't wait to see what it'll do!
Thanks for the help so far. Hopefully someday I'll be able to contribute some knowledge per my experiences. I haven't had a bike in over 15 years (although I've ridden some), and have never had one over 30 years old. So this is all a new world to me. Love it!!

I rode mine without a front brake when i first got it although not very far and not real fast. I say as long as you have a back brake take her out and get to know er a little. Nice looking bike by the way

Hey everyone look it's another 650 that Bad Kaw missed.

Welcome to the asylum looks like you have the start of a nice project. You might want to check out this thread and add pics of your bike over there as well kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...7940&catid=13#227940

There are some very nice looking 650's in that thread in all different states, from bone stock to highly modified. Also we like to torture Bad Kaw and a 650 C-1 is the bike he is lusting for.B)

Yeah, I'm gonna have to come up with a really cool banana/ape name for it.
M/C will arrive Monday, have on road Tuesday:cheer:
Question though: been noticing the exhaust coming out of engine. On all pics I've seen of other KZs, The 1 & 2 pipe to left, and 3 & 4 pipe to right. On mine, the 1 crosses over to the right with #4, and 2 & 3 go to the left (see pic). Any reason for this? I guess it wouldn't make a performance difference, but maybe sound.

I could be mistaken but the exhaust on your bike looks to be an aftermarket system made by either Jardine (my first guess) or possibly a company named Alphabet. It is for sure not stock. Possibly if you can post up some different pics someone here with a 650 will be able to pin it down for sure. I'd bet that bike has a nice roar to it, and the style of it is pure old school.

I "think" the crossover type you have are stock on the "CSR" model. It is actually a better design (from a flow point of view) than the 1&2, 3&4 setup on the basic bike. If you check, I think it is supposed to be good for a couple of HP!

Welcome.

The cross over pipes were stock on the D model 650s (aka 650SR).
Not sure if CSR's had them.
