Newbie... actually old, but who's looking was created by supercharged
New here. Just revived my 1979 Kawi KZ1000 B3 after 20 years of dust gathering garaged storage.

Funny, I found myself buying a used 1980 KZ1000 LTD and recollecting my old bike's history... and realizing mine has been taking up space for years. So, I dusted it off, put some time into the engine and turned it over. It ran better then I even remembered!

boring video of the start HERE

I also posted a few pics in the gallery on the site.

I am putting new rubber on this week and will actually put a few miles on the bike:woohoo:

Hope to share some ideas with you here....

Some bike stats:
- standard 1015 engine
- Gerex multifire electronic ignition and coils
- bunches of chrome
- air/oil front forks
- HD Clutch
- Marzocchi rear shocks
- Nylon rear sprocket
- and a direct drive, roots type, SUPERCHARGER!

attached image is when attempting to start, so covers were removed.

To be considered old here, you most likely have to be over 80 :D

I think the "average" age of the members is over 40 :)

Really nice looking bike.

supercharged, welcome to the KZR Nation! That looks like one mean, serious machine.

Best of success!

I never had the $ to get it on a dyno, which was a true rarity when I built it... now I have access to several dynos, and not sure I want to stress the engine.

I think a few of my friends will push the issue and I'll give it a pass, even if I hold back a bit... since I'm very curious as to what it produces.

Only pushing 7 lbs with current config, and have pullies/belt for 15lbs, but I would feel comfortable with that only after I prep the engine... and crank.

;) My new-found old interest in the KZs has me searching for info and maybe another KZ1000.

To be honest I tried RC helicopters for a 18 months, but they get really expensive... and I wasn't getting to the level I wanted to be, so I'm back to my real love, bikes! I can spend hours working, riding and dreaming about bikes... and barely spend a dime, plus the satisfaction is as good if not better then flying.

Hope to see you around.
