Mmm, beautiful bike you got a great deal. As for riding in the rain, it takes a little getting used to just make sure to ride like you're on glass and be as careful and smooth as possible. 
Oh, and the roads are the most slippery within the first half hour of a rainfall as all the accumulated oil hasn't had time to wash off the surface yet so it's the best time to take a break somewhere sheltered
