Hi all,

I just picked up my first bike, a 79 KZ650. The vin is KZ650C-023470....So I guess that makes it a "Custom." Anyone know where I can find the engine ID #? Pretty good shape, has 6k miles on the odo (not sure if I trust that), and is not running right now due to missing the pump rod spring and nut on the carburetor. I was going to order them from cyclepartsnation.com It also might have problems with the ignition coils. I have two sets to try...hopefully one will work. Apart from that, I'm looking to make this a nice little cafe racer. Does anyone know of good sites that offer after-market parts for the 70's KZ's? Parts I'm looking for are cone filters for the carbs (get rid of that stock airbox), new exhaust, etc

Also, I'm located in NY, just outside NYC. Any others in the same area??

Welcome.

Z1enterprises is a good source for parts, and is located in New York. Lots of members here have used them.

www.dotheton.com/ is a cafe site where you can get a lot of info on cafeing a bike.

www.kz650.info/ is another source of kz650 specific info.

Do post up some pictures of your ride as well.

Hi Andrew.

Welcome aboard and welcome to the KZ650 Owners Club. :)

Another source of OEM parts I have bought from is Ron Ayers Motorsports . You can look up pricing by the Kawasaki part number right from their home page.
